Biography: Robert Gomez (Dytch66)
Robert Gomez, known in the art world as Dytch66, was born and raised in Los Angeles, spending his formative years in Redondo Beach. His early artistic influences stemmed from movies, comic books, and the vibrant graffiti culture that surrounded him. Inspired by older skaters and surfers already immersed in graffiti, Robert began painting on freeways, streets, and train yards in 1987—marking the start of his creative journey.
In the late 1990s, seeking to sharpen his skills, Robert transitioned from being entirely self-taught to pursuing formal art education. This dedication to growth led him into the film and television industry, where he worked in the art department and as a scenic artist for various production studios. In the early 2000s, he also contributed to Playboy magazine’s art department, further expanding his expertise.
As his artistic voice matured, Robert continued to evolve as a graffiti artist. He began exhibiting in galleries, events, and museums worldwide while also completing private commissions. These experiences helped him shift into a full-time art career. His distinctive large-scale graffiti murals attracted the attention of the outdoor media industry, leading to nearly a decade of traveling across the U.S. painting advertisements for some of the world’s leading brands.
Eventually, Robert joined forces with his wife to launch their own outdoor media company, Blank Canvas LA. The company’s mission is twofold: to solidify Robert’s place as a top-tier artist and to bring client visions to life through custom, creative design. Through Blank Canvas LA, Robert has continued to expand his impact, build the Dytch66 brand, and offer high-level artistic services on a global scale.
Looking back on over a decade of Blank Canvas LA, Robert is proud of the company’s growth and the remarkable clients they’ve collaborated with. What began as a local venture has evolved into an international brand. With every project, Robert and his team continue to push artistic boundaries, leaving a lasting mark on the global art and media landscape.
