WHERE INSPIRATION FLOWS
Being part of this massive project was an incredible experience. Collaborating with pamela wall, who designed the artwork, was an absolute pleasure. Her creative vision brought a unique and vibrant energy to the project that resonated with everyone involved. We are deeply grateful to Manhattan Beach Fire Station 1 for their exceptional hospitality and support throughout the entire duration of our work. Their accommodating spirit made the project not only feasible but also enjoyable.
A heartfelt thank you also goes out to Manhattan Beach Parks & Rec for their invaluable assistance and cooperation. Their dedication to community arts initiatives like this one ensures that projects like ours can flourish and contribute positively to the local culture. This mural holds a special significance for Dytch66 as it is in the area where his roots lie. Being able to give back to his hometown through art is a privilege we hold dear.
This mural is more than just paint on a wall; it tells a story of creativity, community, and connection. Each Spray Can color is a testament to the passion and talent poured into this project by everyone involved. From concept to completion, every detail was carefully considered to reflect the spirit and identity of Manhattan Beach.
"In designing the mural for the fire station, I wanted to speak to the aspect of the beach community as well as somehow address the idea of fire since the mural is on a fire station. The concept I came up with is a Nautilus shell surrounded by the all elements in nature, Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.
The Nautilus shell is a symbol of grace in growth, expansion, renewal and psychological growth. It was a symbol of perfection in Ancient Greek culture. It is also a symbol of order amidst chaos. This is why I depicted by all the elements swirling around the shell.
Lastly, with the gradients in the flames I was hoping to give a playful nod to the Southern California hot rod culture." ~ Pamula Wall
