Starting the Year With Intention — Designing Murals That Belong

A shift in how we look at the spaces around us.

It’s often the time when people start thinking about what they want their environment to feel like—not just how it looks, but how it lives and evolves.

We’re Nona and Robert, a husband-and-wife artist team behind Blank Canvas LA.

Together, we create custom murals, canvas work, and visual campaigns for businesses and homes across and throughout Southern California.

Our work is built on collaboration—because the best pieces don’t come from a template, they come from understanding the space and the people behind it.

Every project we take on starts the same way:

With a conversation.

We look at the space, the energy, and how people move through it. From there, we begin shaping something that feels intentional—something that doesn’t just sit on a wall, but becomes part of the experience.

It’s never about adding art for the sake of it.

It’s about creating something that belongs.

A mural can shift a space in ways that aren’t always obvious at first.

It can:

  • bring focus to a room

  • create a stronger identity for a business

  • give people a reason to pause, connect, and remember

Over time, it becomes part of how that space is experienced.

The piece shown here is a reflection of that process.

What began as a conversation became something that now lives inside the space—something people interact with, sit beside, and become part of.

For us, that’s always the goal.

As we move further into the year, we’re continuing to expand our work throughout Southern California, taking on projects across Riverside Coachella Valley, and surrounding areas.

Each project is different, but the approach stays the same:
thoughtful, collaborative, and built with intention.

If you’ve been thinking about your space—even quietly—we’re always open to starting the conversation.

Because every mural we create begins there.
